Your ghost stayed.

Some people weave into your life so deeply that erasing them becomes an impossible feat. In every aspect, even the pettiest daily references, their memory lingers, making even the act of breathing a reminder of them. There's a constant replay of their face, of the memory you shared that's stuck at the back of your mind and you just can't shake it. Right from the moment you open your eyes to the final blink at night, tons and tons of memories flood through you - unfailingly, terribly reminding you of them.

Not everyone we meet leaves such an indelible mark. But there are those few who infiltrate our existence, entirely. And when they leave, letting go becomes insurmountable. You can neither hate them nor resent them. You can't NOT think of them even if you don't want to because they've infiltrated every corner of your life. They're there everywhere, reminding you of everything. From brushing your teeth to the soundtrack of some random song during lunch, even the most irrelevant and trivial of things has some relevance to them. ALWAYS, reminding you of their inexistence in your life, the pain and the deep dark void they left behind.

Not everyone has this impact, only a few. And it's often those who once gave us the world -  and now, suddenly, they can't.

How do you release that hold ? How do you summon disdain for someone so intertwined with your being ? How do you not remember, not love, not yearn for that person ? How do you carry on, or is this the new normal - dark and empty ?

You left, but your ghost stayed.

Is that how it is for you, too ?
